The Good Game Theory
Monopoly $ is useless in the box, but power in the game. When everybody agrees & believes in the rules & objectives is when it all becomes meaningful. Rolling doubles means nothing of itself, but in Monopoly, it gets you an extra turn or even out of jail. If only life were that simple.
I’ve advanced with my taste for complexity since then. At the same time, I still love a good dice chucker when I’m feeling lucky. Sausage Sizzle is a little known Aussie classic that’s a favorite of mine. All you do is roll to max the score for your critters eating sausies at the barbie. It makes sense once you get rolling.
A good game is like a good book when you believe it. Middle Earth isn’t real & neither is Hogwarts, but to those that read Lord of the Rings & Harry Potter, all that magic is possible. At the end of a heavy game like Dune Imperium - Uprising, the players will be talking like they just all returned from the Desert Planet.
Playing the game makes you a character in the story. This time I was Buff Elvis.
Some say the greatest & only story ever told is ‘Who am I?’
I’m saying the greatest story of all time is ‘Are we having fun?’
