Dice Tower West isn’t all about competition, it’s about connection & community.
Gamers of the globe gather to share their joy of turn-taking table-top madness.
The heat was self-evident in the Hot Games Room with the most fire of recent releases tabled, including Ostia, Finspan, & Endeavor Deep Sea.
Endeavor was a favorite of mine to learn. In this stat tracking masterpiece, you command a fleet of driving submarines as you explore the deep dark mysteries of the murky waters, upgrading abilities to enhance your search for scientific discovery.
I was a sonar scanning seeker revealing the fresh tiles that served as deeper regions of the ocean. This was an excellent way to earn victory points, but maybe not the best as a wiser opponent drafted a superior sea squad to bring him that winning score.
I must have been in a nautical mode as I shift to the prototype zone. Here I test played Mermaid Caverns by Merchants of Mayhem.
1990’s Tyra Banks Mermaid Queen was the master of my siren sung fish army, snatching away gems & jewels from the grasp of the deadly Kraken. At least that is how the game played out in my head.
Queen Tyra prevailed against my competitors & of course that dreadful Kraken. She was glammed out in pearls, rubies, & sapphires. Her summoned entourage of deep sea dwellers could not be stopped.
Now, DTW is more than just laying down the dominance against all others, sometimes you just gotta slay the beast.
20 Strong, a solo Dice chucking battle fest by Chip Theory Games, was taught in the Demo Zone. A little instruction was necessary for me to play this hitter, as sometimes card symbols & icons confuse me. With a quick tutorial, I was off & rolling, delivering huge crit hits on the swarm of alien invaders.
After a series of recklessly aggressive rolls, a path of the slaughtered bodies of intergalactic minions led me to the Mother Spore. I used the last of my 20 Strong dice to strike the killing blow with my Valkyrie to thwart the evil invasion.
Solo games are an engaging way to deal with delays. Why kill time, when you can kill monsters? Instead of checking my phone & scrolling for some like on a post to push that dopamine button, I’d rather count crit hits to fight of the horde.
Dice Tower West not only embraces connection with community, but encourages satisfaction of the solo self.
Thank you Chip Theory Games for the good game & sponsoring this joyous event.
